Ruby Anderson Trophy
Pandas Basketball MVP
The Ruby Anderson Trophy, presented to Pandas Basketball’s most valuable player, is named for Ruby Anderson, a University of Alberta Pandas Basketball student athlete from 1948 to 1950 and winner of the 1949–1950 Edna Bakewell Trophy. After graduating from the University of Alberta, Anderson went on to teach at Victoria Composite High School in Edmonton. She returned to the Faculty of Physical Education in 1956 and was named Director of Women’s Athletics in 1963. In 1970, she became Undergraduate Chairman of the Faculty. She was promoted to Associate Dean of Athletics before retiring in 1981.
