Alberta Order of Excellence

Established after the Alberta Order of Excellence Act received royal assent in the Alberta Legislature on November 16, 1979, the Alberta Order of Excellence is the highest honour the Province of Alberta can bestow on one of its citizens. The purpose of the Order, the first provincial honour in Canada, is to recognize Albertans who have made outstanding provincial, national, and international impact and who have served fellow Albertans with singular excellence and the greatest distinction.

The Alberta Order of Excellence has been presented to over 70 Albertans since its inception in 1979, including the following with a connection to the University of Alberta.
